Impact Dance Teachers Steal the Spotlight at the Opening Gala of the Alan Horwitz “Sixth Man” Center for Philadelphia Youth Basketball
Philadelphia’s basketball landscape is about to experience a seismic shift, and some of our incredible Impact dance teachers took center stage at the grand opening gala of the city’s newest civic center for the Philadelphia Youth Basketball organization. With a mesmerizing performance, choreographed by Sammy Reyes, our talented instructors dazzled attendees and set the tone for an unforgettable evening of celebration and entertainment. With speakers such as Wanda Sykes and Marc Zumoff, the stage was set to be an unforgettable evening in Philadelphia.
The team of seasoned professional dancers performed an impressive array of choreography, from Michael Jackson to Philadephia’s famous “Rocky,” and everything in between. Each performer brought a unique flair to the stage, promising an eclectic mix of movements that captivated the audience in a flashmob style show. From smooth gliding to graceful leaps, and even some breaking and ballroom, the performance left the ticket holders with an energy to make the night a special one.
Located in the heart of North Philadelphia, the Sixth Man Center hopes to change the youth basketball scene in the city. According to their website: “The 100,000 square foot Alan Horwitz “Sixth Man” Center will be a world-class facility and a second home for thousands of young people and a resource for the community, transforming lives for decades to come. The Center will provide everything that PYB believes young people need to thrive academically and intellectually, socially and emotionally, & civically and vocationally.”
In a city with a rich history in both basketball and dance, the gala was an opportunity for the arts and sports communities to come together as one, with a focus on the next generation. As the curtain rises on Philadelphia’s newest community center, the Impact dance teachers were flattered and thrilled to be able to contribute their talents in order to celebrate a new chapter for the Philadelphia Youth Basketball organization.
